LabLynx LIMS Compatibility and Interfacing
The LabLynx LIMS/LIS includes the ability to link up to other applications, databases and/or devices. For the LIS application, this means instruments used for assays, to streamline the data management involved, passing patient data from/to an EHR, for instance, so that assay requests are linked correctly with the patient and sent automatically to the lab, or pass the LIS results report to the EHR or a patient portal for viewing. Of course, in all types of labs, interfacing to any testing instruments is very common indeed, to eliminate the transcription errors and time involved with manual entry. Other systems or services (e.g. billing) and/or agencies (state reporting, CDC reporting) may also be entities with which the LIMS or LIS may want to integrate.
For clinical labs, interoperability is a key aspect of clinical information management per HITECH, according to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC):

ONC follows the IEEE definition of interoperability as the ability of systems to exchange and use electronic health information from other systems without special effort on the part of the user. Additionally, any proprietary O/S (operating system - e.g. Windows, Linux, OSX etc.) or other ancillary apps or hardware limitations affect the degree to which the LIS can inter-operate. It should be flexible and compatible with common environments.

Interfacing requirements for labs are many and varied among the many different types of industries LabLynx supports. By far the most common need is for either a unidirectional (send results to the LIMS) or bi-directional (send sample information to the instrument, and return results data to the LIMS) interface with analytical instruments. LabLynx provides these types of link-ups in whatever manner the instrument allows. This can be either regular automatic checks for presence of a file and upload if found, API interface with its software, serial port direct feed, web services fetching, etc.

Or, if you prefer, we can come onsite and install it for you, ensuring all interfaced data points communicate properly. Many systems need only be able to provide files that your sciCloud.net® Solution can access to process and report, and/or be able to receive sample information from the LIMS. If serial connections are required, then a LabVia channel is utilized, and your hub will link up with the cloud-based software portion of LabVia to ensure perfect data routing and management.
The cloud portion of LabVia is hosted for you in our Cloud Platform (IaaS), keeping your integrations securely managed in real time. And any time you need more integrations (e.g. you buy new instruments that you'd like to interface with your system), we can add a new channel for you that is configured to transfer the data you want, in the ways you want them.

It can be accessed from anywhere there is Internet access, any time. That means PC, Mac, tablet, mobile phone - whatever you like.
