The Laboratory Technology Maturity Framework
LabLynx has developed the Laboratory Technology Maturity Framework (LTMF) as a simple but meaningful approach to evaluate a laboratory's adoption of technology. We created this framework based upon the same concepts of the Capability Maturity Model developed by Carnegie Mellon University for evaluating IT organizations and their level of maturity with respect to overall best practices in software development.
The reason we developed this framework is to help both LabLynx and our clients identify the challenges and opportunities in raising the level of automation and technology maturity, so that we have an objective set of criteria for evaluating the lab's current state, and measuring its progress towards a higher level of automation and integrated lab informatics. The end goal is to reduce quality problems in the lab, and to enable better and more efficient operations to be performed so that the lab stays focused on its core missions and spends less time on overhead-related activities that come with managing data.
